The "O" Mind Gallery has decided to continue having events. To start, we have a show with photographer Leva Ann Schneider underway. When considering what to do next, Leva came to mind automatically because her work represents something we feel connected to. Her photography highlights some of the most exciting performances to come out of the Los Angeles Club scene in the past seven years or so. She's also focused on fashion and slice-of-life images that are truly worth giving a look. When we asked her if she was available, she gave it a thought and mentioned she started working on a "Red, Why Blued?" series and this would be a good way to have it exhibited. Because her body of work is so rich in variety the biggest problem may end up having to narrow things down. As it is, she will share a formal series while also having many shots of people and places from her catalog on view. T-shirts and other merchandise are being considered as well, and should end up as a great exhibition. Leva has both great style and sense, a priceless combination.
We just got word that we will have the L.A. Drones perform for the opening show and Department of Descriptive Services at the closing. These are some of the edgiest and danciest musicians currently playing, so this is good news! Both musicians are featured in Leva's Photographs, looking like the sparkly icons of our current era that they truly are. We hope to be good hosts and promote her work for a spectacular show.
The space itself is due for many renovations, starting with some drywall for a sleek-looking gallery display, on at least one wall to start with. We don't want to get ahead of ourselves. As we continue with this enterprise we will no doubt evolve.
After this, we are contemplating having a group show with a loose theme of "abstract" art, which can be interpreted however the artist feels is right. Please let us know if you are interested in participating or have any other thoughts.
Thanks! Amanda O'Connor
